  • We bought some oranges.
  • Each hand has five fingers.
  • Sunday is the first day of the week.
  • Saturday is the last day of the week.

Adjectives of number answer the question: how many?

Adjectives of number are of three kinds:

Definite numeral adjectives
Examples: one, two, three, first, second, third etc.

  • We have two hands and two legs.
  • Each hand has five fingers.

Indefinite numeral adjectives
Examples are: some, any, all, many, few, no etc.

  • Few children turned up.
  • There is some milk in the bottle.

Distributive numeral adjectives
Examples: each, every, either, neither etc.

  • Neither answer is correct.
  • Every child needs love.
