Formation of interrogative sentences
When the verb consists of two or more words, the interrogative sentence is formed by putting the first auxiliary verb before the subject.
- He has been playing. (Assertive)
- Has he been playing? (Interrogative)
- She is coming. (Assertive)
- Is she coming? (Interrogative)
- I am working. (Assertive)
- Am I working? (Interrogative)
The same rules apply when the sentences are in the passive voice.
- A letter has been written by me. (Assertive)
- Has a letter been written by me? (Interrogative)
