Present continuous tense
The present continuous tense is used to talk about an action that is going on at the time of speaking.
Form: subject + is / am / are + ing form of the verb
- It is raining.
- We are waiting.
- They are playing.
- She is writing.
The present continuous tense is often used to talk about a future action that has already been arranged.
- We are going to Mumbai tomorrow.
- He is arriving tomorrow.
Notes
There are a few verbs that are not normally used in the present continuous forms. Examples are: think, know, want, suppose, understand, remember, trust, agree, hear, see, smell, wish, desire, love, hate etc.
- I think you are right. (NOT I am thinking you are right.)
- I know I am wrong. (NOT I am knowing I am wrong.)
